GRIGORY DOBRYGIN
Grigory Dobrygin is a US-based Russian film and theatre actor, director, producer and scriptwriter. He was also a teacher of acting and directing at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts. A classically trained ballet dancer, Grigory had his breakout role as the first Russian superhero in the film BLACK LIGHTNING. After starring as ‘Pavel’ in the critically acclaimed HOW I ENDED THIS SUMMER, for which he earned the Silver Bear for Best Actor at Berlinale, he began to work more frequently in western productions, including: the feature A MOST WANTED MAN by Anton Corbijn; as ‘Morozov’ in Kevin Macdonald’s BLACK SEA; and OUR KIND OF TRAITOR directed by Susanna White. As a director, Grigory has produced several music videos. His films have been nominated at international film festivals including the short film MIND THE GAP with William Dafoe. As a theatre director and teacher he has staged several experimental works with students and graduates, including at the Praktika Theatre in Moscow. The world premiere of his most recent film THE QUIET LIFE was released at Venice Film Festival. Directed by Alexandros Avranas, Grigory played the role of ‘Sergei’ in it.
