LILITH STANGENBERG

 

Lilith was born in Berlin, and began her acting career at a young age at the Berliner Volksbühne. Her performances there led to engagements at the Schauspiel Hannover; the Theater Basel; and she was a permanent member of the Schauspielhaus Zürich ensemble from 2009 to 2012. She then went on to become part of the Volksbühne Berlin Ensemble, collaborating with notable directors such as: Frank Castorf, René Pollesch, and Christoph Marthaler. In recent years, she has also appeared in various film projects, notably starring in the lead role of the feature film WILD by Nicolele Krebitz, for which she received the Günter Rohrbach Film Award for Best Actress, and also the German Film Critics Award. Her other works include: IDIOTEN DER FAMILIE directed by Michael Klier; DER STAAT GEGEN FRITZ BAUER directed by Lars Kraume; ICH WAR ZU HAUSE, ABER... by Angela Schanelec; and BLUTSAUGER by Julian Radlmaier. Internationally, Lilith has worked with Filipino punk arthouse filmmaker Khavn, and U.S. artist Paul McCarthy. In 2021, she played the role of ‘Paulina’ opposite John Malkovich in the feature film SENECA. Most recently, Lilith starred in the feature EUROPA, directed by Sudabeh Mortezai; and as ‘Ellen’ in the film STERBEN, which was directed by Mathias Glasner, and which premiered at the 74th Berlinale.
