IVAN BARNEV
Ivan Barnev is a Bulgarian actor who is based in Sofia. He graduated from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Art in 1996, having trained under the renowned Bulgarian actor & professor Stefan Danailov. Ivan has worked extensively both on and off screen, and his role in the play DINNER FOR IDIOTS earned him the Asker Rising Star Award in 2002. His credits include: the television series OUTCASTS; FOOTSTEPS IN THE SAND directed by Ivaylo Hristov; VOICE OVER directed by Svetoslav Ovtcharov; LADY ZEE; as ‘Mladen’ in THE LESSON; THE GOAT; BUFFER ZONE directed by Georgi Djulgerov; the crime drama ROUNDS directed by Stephan Komandarev; and Avelina Prat’s VASIL. In 2006, Ivan was nominated for the Best Actor award at Berlin Film Festival for his role as ‘Jan Dite’ in Jiri Menzel’s feature film I SERVED THE KING OF ENGLAND. More recently, Ivan has become better known to international audiences for his performance in THE FATHER, which was directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, and which won the Crystal Globe for Best Film at Karlovy Vary. Ivan is married to the Bulgarian actress (& Subtitle Alumni) Margita Gosheva.
