MAKITA SAMBA
At the age of 4, Makita auditioned to play the Prince role in a production of Cinderella at his local Kindergarten. Unfortunately, he was deemed too young for this particular spoken part, but the setback only served to set him on a path to make acting his ultimate career. He went on to study at the National Conservatoire of Paris, and following that he landed a part in a production of THE BEAR at his city’s conservatory. He continued his studies at Le Conservatoire National de Paris, and graduated in 2015. Since that time he has worked with high profile directors in productions which include: Jacques Audiard’s PARIS 13TH DISTRICT which played in competition at Cannes, and for which Makita was nominated for the Best Newcomer prize at the César awards for playing the leading role of ‘Camille Germain’ opposite Noémie Merlant; HAPPY END directed by Michael Haneke; as ‘Marcus’ in THE BUNKER GAME by Roberto Zazzaral; Philippe Garrel’s LOVER FOR A DAY; ANGELO by Markus Schleinzer; the television series NO LIMIT; and the independent features COMING HOME, and MY FRIEND VICTORIA by Jean-Paul Civeyrac. Makita’s upcoming work includes a starring role in the films AFTER THE FIRE; Yohann Gloaguen’s PROSPER; and FURCY - an epic film inspired by the true story of a slave in a French colony who was able to achieve legal emancipation prior to the definitive abolition of slavery. It is directed by Abd Al Malik, with Makita in the titular role opposite Romain Duris.
