“The Resistance Banker” starring Jacob Derwig, and Raymond Thiry has won 5 Golden Calf Awards (The National Awards of The Netherlands), including Best Picture, Best Production, The Audience Award, and the Best Actor Award which went to Jacob Derwig. The film achieved 5 wins out of 12 nominations. It is also the chosen film to represent The Netherlands in 2019’s Best Foreign-Language Film category at the Oscars.

Directed by Joram Lürsen, the film takes place in occupied Netherlands during World War II, and tells the story of banker Walraven van Hall (Barry Atsma) who is asked to use his financial contacts to help the Dutch resistance.

Jacob plays ‘Gijs van Hall’, and Raymond Thiry co-stars in the role of ‘Van den Berg’.
