"Give Me Liberty" starring Darya Ekamasova to premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival

“Give Me Liberty” starring Darya Ekamasova will premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Darya plays the role of ‘Sasha’ in the film, which is a dark comedy set in Milwaukee, and which is written by Alice Austen.

The film will be screened as part of Sundance’s NEXT series, which is a category for forward-thinking and innnovative filmmaking. Films that have premiered in this series in the recent past include “Searching,” “A Ghost Story” and “Tangerine.” As well as premiering at the festival, its director, Kirill Mikhanovsky, is nominated for the NEXT Innovator Award.

Synopsis: When a riot breaks out in America’s most segregated city, medical transport driver Vic is torn between his promise to get a group of elderly Russians to a funeral and his desire to help Tracy, a young black woman with ALS.

Sundance film festival takes place from January 24th - February 3rd.
